LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST

MA, LMFT

TARYN MAU

Taryn is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has worked in the counseling field for the last 10 years. Although her title is  LMFT, she works with all kinds of clients, including individuals, couples, and families. While working with individuals, she uses her systems theory framework to help her clients understand they are more than their diagnosis to establish self-compassion and promote change.

As a therapist, she has worked to help families find healing in their relationships, helped struggling couples reconcile after painful events threatened their relationship, and helped aching hearts understand how to stop minimizing their own pain. She has worked with individuals with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief/trauma to find the peace that exists within themselves. She enjoys working with clients who are navigating various life transitions, some of which include generational or religious trauma, perinatal mental health, infertility and women's health issues, separation/divorce, coparenting, and parent-child conflicts.

Taryn first began providing couples therapy primarily because many other therapists aren't trained nor have the desire to work with couples. Over time, couples therapy has become her specialty and one in which she really loves providing to the communities she serves. Taryn uses an evidence-based couples therapy model and has had profound results. Despite her experience, she enjoys most, however, working with people who feel comfortable in her presence, placing people before their problems.

Taryn incorporates system theory using a variety of methods, including mindfulness, emotionally-focused therapy, and internal family systems, to help her clients connect with themselves and others. She can provide spiritual or faith-based counseling if desired.

She is holistic in practice, asking her clients to consider how they can become healthier versions of themselves and challenging them to take steps in that direction.

Taryn Mau, Marriage and Family Therapist
"The relationship between my clients and I is the most important intervention I can offer."
"We can't have all of life's answers. Rather, we all get stuck at times, wondering how on earth we can fix what feels stuck or broken."
