MELANIE ELMORE, M.ED., LPC

LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Since 2013, it has been my honor to walk alongside people on their journey to finding healing and peace. I truly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship, and it is my goal to create a warm and compassionate space from the very first session. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents facing trauma and anxiety-related concerns, as well as co-occurring issues such as addiction, chronic pain, and mood-related challenges. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, and I am committed to providing an affirming space for all.

During our sessions together, we will work to address the root causes of symptoms using a variety of evidence-based approaches. I have post-degree training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am also a Somatic Experiencing Professional at the Intermediate Level. Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-based approach to treating trauma.  By working with the body, we work to help regulate the nervous system and heal from past traumatic experiences on a deeper level.  Because of the impact of trauma on the body, I have also received advanced training through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) on an EMDR protocol for reducing chronic pain.

For those who enjoy engaging in creative arts, I love to incorporate expressive arts, sand tray therapy, and other creative approaches into our sessions. In our first meeting, we will discuss your needs and create a plan to help you reach your goals.

We are not capable of healing in isolation. We need other people. We are hurt in relationship, and we heal in relationship. Our brain and nervous system are not isolated, but interconnected and social. At our core, we are social beings who regulate through connection with others.
